Unzipo: Privacy Policy, Terms and Support
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Unzipo is an iPhone app that opens ZIP, RAR and 7z archives. You can browse what is inside, preview files, extract them and save them to the Files app. Unzipo is made by 1KB Apps. This page explains how the app handles information, which technology it uses, and how to get help.
Privacy Policy
The short version
- Unzipo has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads and no analytics or tracking tools.
- Your archives and the files inside them are processed on your iPhone. Unzipo does not send them, or their names, to any server.
- The only outside services are Apple (App Store and subscriptions) and RevenueCat (purchase reporting). Both are described below.
Information we do not collect
1KB Apps does not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos or any other personal information through the app. We do not run our own servers for the app, so we do not receive or store your files.
How your files are handled
- Unzipo reads an archive only after you pick it with the iOS file picker.
- When you extract, Unzipo writes the files to a temporary folder on your iPhone. When you choose a folder in Files, it copies them there.
- Files used for previews are removed when you close the archive. Temporary extraction folders are removed after you save or cancel. iOS may also clear temporary storage on its own.
- Files you save to Files stay under your control. You can move or delete them at any time.
Information stored on your device
Unzipo keeps a few small settings on your iPhone using standard iOS storage:
- Whether you finished the welcome screens, and the file type you chose there.
- Whether you have seen the subscription screen.
- Your theme choice: Light, Dark or System.
- A saved copy of your subscription status, so the app can unlock quickly, including when you are offline.
This information stays on your device. Deleting the app removes it.
Third-party services
Apple (App Store and StoreKit). Subscriptions are bought, renewed, restored and cancelled through your Apple ID. Apple processes your payment. We never see your card or payment details. Apple's privacy policy is at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
RevenueCat. Unzipo includes the RevenueCat SDK to report purchases for revenue tracking. Purchases are still made and checked with Apple's StoreKit. When the app starts, and when you buy or restore, the SDK may contact RevenueCat servers. RevenueCat may receive purchase details (such as the plan bought and the transaction), an anonymous identifier created by the SDK, and the technical information any app sends over the internet (such as your IP address, device model, iOS version and app version). It does not receive your archives, your files or their names. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/.
There are no other analytics, advertising or tracking services in Unzipo.
Subscriptions
Unzipo offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly and yearly) called Unzipo Pro. You can open an archive and browse its contents without subscribing. Previewing files, extracting them and saving them need Unzipo Pro. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. To manage or cancel, open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Your rights and choices
We do not hold personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to export or delete from our side. Your settings live on your device and you can clear them by deleting the app. Purchase records are held by Apple and, for revenue reporting, by RevenueCat. If you want to ask about information linked to your purchases, email us at support@1kbapps.com and we will help.
Children's privacy
Unzipo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Subscriptions are made through an Apple ID, which is managed by the account holder.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.

What Unzipo uses
- Apple Intelligence and AI: none. Unzipo does not use Apple Intelligence or any AI or machine-learning service.
- Third-party APIs: none, apart from the RevenueCat SDK described above. Unzipo does not call any web API to open or extract your files.
- Apple frameworks: SwiftUI for the interface, StoreKit 2 for subscriptions, Quick Look for file previews, the Files document picker for choosing and saving, and Apple's Compression framework for ZIP.
- Open-source libraries: libarchive reads RAR and 7z archives, and liblzma from XZ Utils decodes LZMA data inside 7z archives. Both are built into the app and run on your iPhone.

Questions and answers
Which file types can Unzipo open?
ZIP (including large ZIP64 files), RAR (RAR4 and RAR5) and 7z. Unzipo works on iPhone.
How do I open an archive?
Open the Archive tab, tap Choose archive, then pick a .zip, .rar or .7z file from the Files app. Unzipo lists the folders and files inside.
What can I do before I subscribe?
Open an archive and browse everything inside it, including folders, file names and sizes. Previewing files, extracting them and saving them need Unzipo Pro.
How do I preview a file?
Tap the eye button next to a file. Unzipo extracts that one file to a temporary place and shows it with Quick Look. This needs Unzipo Pro. Quick Look can only show file types that iOS supports.
How do I extract only some files?
Tap the circle on the right of each file you want. The button at the bottom changes to Extract Selected with a count. If nothing is selected, the button says Extract All.
How do I save the extracted files?
When extraction finishes, Unzipo shows "Your files are ready". Tap Choose folder, pick a folder in Files (On My iPhone, iCloud Drive or another location), then tap Open. Unzipo saves your files inside that folder. If you change your mind, tap Cancel and the temporary files are removed.
Where did my files go after saving?
Open the Files app and go to the folder you picked. Unzipo creates a folder named after the archive. If the name is taken, it adds a number. The Saved message also has an Open Files button.
Why is my archive not opening?
Check these common causes:
- The file extension must be .zip, .rar or .7z.
- Password-protected archives are not supported.
- Multi-part archives (for example .part1.rar) are not supported.
- Some ZIP files use compression methods other than the standard ones, and Unzipo cannot read those.
- The file may be damaged. Download it again and retry.
- If the file is in iCloud Drive, make sure it has finished downloading.
Some files were skipped. Why?
Unzipo skips files that are password-protected or damaged and tells you how many. The rest are still saved. A damaged file is never saved half-written.
An archive is large. Will it work?
Yes. Unzipo reads archives in small pieces, so it does not load the whole file into memory. Large archives can still take time. You will see progress and elapsed time while it opens, and you can tap Cancel while it opens.
Do I need internet?
No, not to open, preview or extract archives. You need a connection to subscribe or to restore a purchase.
What does Unzipo Pro include, and how much does it cost?
Unzipo Pro unlocks previewing, extracting and saving. It comes as a weekly or a yearly auto-renewing subscription. The price for your country is shown on the plan screen before you buy. If a trial is available for your Apple ID, it is shown there too.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open iPhone Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Unzipo and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I restore my purchase?
Tap Get Pro (top right of the Archive tab, or in Settings), then tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of the plan screen. Use the same Apple ID you bought with. If you are already Pro, Settings also shows a Restore Purchase button.
I have a promo code. Where do I use it?
Tap Get Pro, then tap Redeem Code at the bottom of the plan screen.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all refunds. Go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID and request a refund for Unzipo.
How do I change to Dark or Light mode?
Open Settings in Unzipo, then Appearance, and choose Dark, Light or System.
Does Unzipo see or keep my files?
No. Archives and files are processed on your iPhone and are not sent to us. Temporary copies are removed after you save or cancel. See the Privacy Policy above for details.
I found a bug or have an idea.
Email support@1kbapps.com. Tell us what you did, what you expected and what happened. If you can, say which archive type it was (ZIP, RAR or 7z) and roughly how big it was. Please do not send private files.
