Privacy Policy

Overview

Scribehz is a video-to-text transcription app for iPhone and iPad. It uses Apple's built-in Speech Recognition framework to convert spoken audio in video files into readable text. Your privacy is extremely important to us, and Scribehz has been designed with a privacy-first approach.

Information We Collect

Scribehz does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
We do not use cookies, analytics tools, or advertising trackers.
We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or any data beyond the video files you explicitly select for transcription.

How the App Works

When you select a video file from your Photo Library or the Files app, Scribehz extracts the audio track and processes it using Apple's on-device Speech framework. All transcription happens locally on your device. Your video files, audio data, and transcribed text are never uploaded to any external server.

Data Stored on Your Device

Scribehz saves your transcription history locally on your device. This includes the source file name, transcribed text, word count, duration, and the date of transcription. This data is stored using standard iOS local storage and is never shared with us or any third party. You can rename, delete, or clear all transcription history at any time from within the app.

Subscriptions and Payments

Scribehz offers optional in-app subscription plans to unlock full access to transcription results. The available plans are:

Yearly: \$29.99 per year
Weekly: \$4.99 per week (includes a 3-day free trial)

All payments are processed securely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment details, credit card information, or Apple ID credentials. Subscription management, including cancellation and renewal, is handled through your Apple ID account settings.

Third-Party Services

Scribehz uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat communicates with Apple's App Store servers to verify your purchase status. RevenueCat does not receive or store your personal information. You can review RevenueCat's privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Data Security

All data remains on your device and is protected by the security measures built into iOS, including device passcode, Face ID, and Touch ID protections. Since no data is transmitted to external servers, there is no risk of server-side data breaches.

Children's Privacy

Scribehz is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect any personal data from any user, there is no data from children that could be inadvertently gathered or stored.

Your Rights

Since Scribehz does not collect or transmit personal data to any server, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, or delete. All transcription data is stored locally on your device and is fully under your control. You can edit, delete, or clear your data at any time directly within the app.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of Scribehz after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

How to Use Scribehz

Select a Video: Tap the Select button on the home screen. Choose a video from your Photo Library or the Files app.
Preview Your File: Review the file name, duration, and size. Tap the thumbnail to preview the video before transcribing.
Transcribe: Tap "Transcribe to Text" to begin. The app processes the audio on-device and displays the result when complete.
Copy or Share: Use the Copy Text or Share Text buttons to use your transcription in other apps.

Managing Your Library

All completed transcriptions are automatically saved in the Library tab. You can:

Search: Use the search bar to find transcriptions by file name or content.
Rename: Long-press a transcription and select Rename to change its title.
Delete: Long-press a transcription and select Delete to remove it.
Clear All: Tap the Clear All button in the top-right corner to remove all history.

Free Users vs Pro Users

All users can import and transcribe unlimited videos. Free users will see a preview of the transcribed text. To unlock the full transcription, copy, and share features, upgrade to Scribehz Pro from within the app.

Managing Your Subscription

To manage or cancel your Scribehz subscription:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your Apple ID at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Select Scribehz and choose Cancel Subscription or change your plan.

You can also restore a previous purchase by going to Settings → Restore Purchase within the Scribehz app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Scribehz require an internet connection?
A: No. Transcription is performed entirely on your device using Apple's speech recognition. An internet connection is not required, although connectivity may improve accuracy for certain languages.

Q: Why is the transcription not fully accurate?
A: Accuracy depends on the clarity of the audio. Videos with clear speech and minimal background noise will produce the best results. Heavy background music, overlapping speakers, or low audio quality may reduce accuracy.

Q: Can I transcribe audio-only files?
A: Scribehz is designed for video files. If your audio file is wrapped in a supported video container format such as M4V or MOV, it may work.

Q: How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
A: Open Scribehz, go to the Settings tab, and tap Restore Purchase. Your Pro access will be restored if your subscription is active on your Apple ID.

Q: Is my data private and secure?
A: Yes. All transcription processing happens entirely on your device. Your videos and text never leave your iPhone or iPad. We do not have access to your data.

Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Go to your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Scribehz → Cancel Subscription. You will retain access until the end of your current billing period.
