Scribehz ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS application developed and published by 1KB Apps. Scribehz converts spoken audio from video and audio files into readable text using on-device and Apple-powered speech recognition. Your privacy matters to us, and this page explains how we handle your data.

Privacy Policy

1. Data Collection

Scribehz is designed with a privacy-first approach. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers owned by us. Here is what the app accesses:

Video & Audio Files: You select video or audio files from your Photo Library or the Files app. These files are processed entirely on your device or via Apple's Speech Recognition servers to generate captions.
Microphone / Speech Recognition Permission: The app requests access to Apple's Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) to transcribe audio. This permission is required for the core functionality of the app.
No Account Required: Scribehz does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email, or phone number.

2. How We Use Your Data

Transcription: Audio extracted from your selected video or audio files is sent to Apple's Speech Recognition service to generate text captions and SRT subtitle files.
Local Storage: Transcription results (caption text, SRT content, video thumbnails, word count, and creation date) are saved locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share or export it.
No Analytics or Tracking: Scribehz does not integrate any third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or advertising frameworks. We do not track your usage behavior.

3. Data Storage & Security

All transcription data, saved captions, and thumbnails are stored locally on your device.
Temporary audio files created during processing are automatically deleted after transcription is complete.
We do not operate any servers that store your content or personal data.
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device passcode and encryption.

4. Third-Party Services

Scribehz uses the following Apple-provided services:

Apple Speech Recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer): Audio data may be sent to Apple's servers for transcription when on-device recognition is not available. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of this data. You can review it at apple.com/privacy.
Apple StoreKit: Used for processing in-app purchases and subscriptions. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is never accessible to us.

We do not use any other third-party services, analytics tools, crash reporters, or advertising networks.

5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Scribehz offers a Pro upgrade via a weekly subscription (\$4.99/week after a 3-day free trial) and a one-time lifetime purchase (\$29.99).
All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment or billing information.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your iPhone's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

6. User Rights

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times:

View: Access all your saved captions from the History tab within the app.
Delete: Delete individual captions or clear all saved data directly from the app.
Export & Share: Copy, share, or export your captions and SRT files at any time.
Uninstall: Deleting the app from your device will permanently remove all locally stored data.

7. Children's Privacy

Scribehz is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect any personal data, there is no risk of children's data being gathered or stored.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

How to Use Scribehz

Pick a Video or Audio File: Tap "Pick a Video" to select a file from your Photo Library, or tap "Browse Files" to choose a video or audio file from the Files app.
Automatic Transcription: Scribehz will extract the audio and convert speech to text automatically. You'll see a live progress animation while the transcription is in progress.
View Results: Once transcription is complete, your caption text will be displayed on screen.
Copy, Share, or Export: Use the action buttons to copy the text to your clipboard, share it with other apps, or export it as an SRT subtitle file (Pro feature).
History: All your past transcriptions are saved in the Library tab. You can search, view, or delete any saved caption at any time.

Q: What languages does Scribehz support?
A: Scribehz uses Apple's Speech Recognition, which supports a wide range of languages. The app automatically detects the language based on your device's current locale settings.

Q: Is there a limit on video or audio length?
A: There is no hard limit. Scribehz splits longer files into smaller chunks for reliable transcription, so even lengthy recordings can be processed.

Q: Do I need an internet connection?
A: For the best accuracy, an internet connection is recommended as Apple's server-based speech recognition provides superior results. However, on-device recognition may be used when available.

Q: How do I export SRT subtitle files?
A: SRT export is a Pro feature. After upgrading, tap the "Export SRT" button on any transcription result to save or share the SRT file.

Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Go to your iPhone's Settings > tap your name (Apple ID) > Subscriptions > select Scribehz > Cancel Subscription.

Q: How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
A: Open Scribehz, go to the upgrade screen, and tap "Restore Purchases". Your Pro status will be restored if you have an active subscription or lifetime purchase.
