Last Updated: February 23, 2026
Privacy Policy
Scanjar ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile document scanning application developed and published by 1KB Apps. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Scanjar collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Scanjar is designed with a privacy-first approach. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers.
- Scanned Documents: All scanned images, generated PDF files, and thumbnails are stored exclusively on your device in the app's local sandboxed storage. They are never uploaded to any server.
- Camera Access: Scanjar requires access to your device's camera solely to capture document scans. Camera data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted externally.
- Photo Library Access: If you choose to import an image from your photo library, the selected image is processed on-device. Scanjar does not access or read any other photos in your library.
- App Preferences: Settings such as your chosen app theme (Light, Dark, or System) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS mechanisms and are never shared.
2. Data Usage
All data generated within Scanjar — including scanned images, enhanced images, and exported PDF documents — is used solely to provide the app's core functionality to you. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering the scanning experience.
3. Data Storage & Security
- All documents and files are stored in the app's private sandboxed directory on your iOS device.
- Data is protected by iOS's built-in hardware encryption and the security features of your device (Face ID, Touch ID, or Passcode).
- If you delete the app, all locally stored data (scanned documents, PDFs, thumbnails, and settings) is permanently removed from your device.
4. Third-Party Services
Scanjar does not integrate any third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash reporting SDKs. No data is shared with third parties.
If you purchase a subscription or in-app purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase data.
5. On-Device Processing
All image processing — including document edge detection (powered by Apple Vision framework), image enhancement, perspective correction, cropping, and PDF generation — happens entirely on your device. No images or documents are ever sent to any cloud service or remote server.
6. User Rights
Since all your data resides solely on your device and we have no access to it, you have full control over your information at all times:
- Access: You can view all your scanned documents directly within the app.
- Deletion: You can delete any individual document from within the app, or delete all data by uninstalling the app.
- Portability: You can share or export your scanned PDFs at any time using the built-in iOS Share Sheet.
7. Children's Privacy
Scanjar does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect any personal data from any user, it is safe for use by individuals of all ages.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I scan a document?
Tap the large circular scan button at the bottom center of the home screen. Point your camera at a document — the app will automatically detect the document edges. Tap the shutter button to capture. You can then crop and adjust the scan before saving it as a PDF.
Can I import photos from my gallery?
Yes. On the scanner screen, tap the gallery icon (bottom-left corner) to select an image from your photo library and convert it into a scanned document.
How do I scan multiple pages into a single PDF?
After scanning your first page, tap "Keep Scanning" on the preview screen. You can continue adding as many pages as you need. When finished, tap "Save PDF" to combine them all into a single document.
How do I share or export a document?
Open any saved document from the Files tab, then tap the Share icon or use the menu to share the PDF via email, messaging apps, AirDrop, or any other app on your device.
How do I rename or delete a document?
On the Files tab, tap the three-dot menu icon (⋯) next to any document. Select "Rename" to change the document name, or "Delete" to permanently remove it.
How do I switch between Light and Dark mode?
Go to the Settings tab and look for the "Appearance" section at the top. You can choose between System (follows your device setting), Light, or Dark.
Where are my scanned documents stored?
All documents are stored locally on your device within the app's private storage. They are not uploaded to any cloud service. If you uninstall the app, all documents will be permanently deleted.
How do I use the flash while scanning?
On the scanner screen, tap the flash icon (bottom-right corner) to toggle the flashlight on or off. This is useful when scanning in low-light conditions.
