Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Recordhz ("we", "our", "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

Recordhz is designed with privacy at its core. All audio recordings, transcriptions, and processed files are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your recordings, transcripts, or any content you create within the app.

On-Device Processing

Audio Recording: All audio is captured and saved directly to your device's local storage. Recordings are never uploaded to any external server.
Noise Removal: Background noise removal is performed entirely on your device using Apple's native audio processing frameworks. No audio data leaves your device during this process.
Speech-to-Text Transcription: Transcription is powered by Apple's Speech framework (SFSpeechRecognizer), which processes audio on-device. Apple may process some speech data on their servers as part of their speech recognition service — please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for more information.
Live Transcription: Real-time transcription during recording uses the same on-device Apple Speech framework.

Data Storage

All recordings, clean audio versions, and transcription text are stored in your app's local sandbox on your device.
If you enable iCloud Sync, your data may be synced across your Apple devices via your personal iCloud account. This data is managed by Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is subject to Apple's iCloud Terms.
We do not operate any servers that store your data.

Third-Party Services

Recordhz uses the following third-party service:

RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect anonymous purchase data, device identifiers, and subscription status to process transactions. RevenueCat does not have access to your recordings or transcriptions. You can review RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers.
We do not track your location.
We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
We do not serve advertisements.
We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies.

Microphone Access

Recordhz requires access to your device's microphone to record audio. This permission is requested the first time you attempt to record. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.

Children's Privacy

Recordhz does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect any personal data, it is safe for users of all ages.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your data at all times. You can delete individual recordings from within the app, or delete all app data by uninstalling Recordhz from your device.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Terms of Use

By downloading or using Recordhz, you agree to these terms.

Subscription Terms

Recordhz offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions to unlock Recordhz Pro:

Weekly Plan — Billed weekly.
Yearly Plan — Billed annually. Includes a 3-day free trial.

Payment: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase.

Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.

Management: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by going to your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

Free Trial: If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

How to Use Recordhz

Recording Audio

Open the app and tap the center record button on the bottom tab bar.
Grant microphone permission when prompted (first time only).
The recording screen shows a live waveform and a precision timer.
Use the Pause button to pause recording and Resume to continue.
Tap Save to save the recording to your library, or Cancel to discard it.

Live Transcription

On the recording screen, toggle Start Transcription to enable live speech-to-text.
A text box will appear showing your words in real time as you speak.
The transcription is saved automatically with your recording.

Playing Recordings

Go to the Library tab to see all your recordings.
Tap the small play button on any recording card to preview it inline.
Tap the recording card itself to open the full playback view.
In playback, use skip forward/backward (15 seconds), adjust playback speed (0.5× to 2×), and scrub through the audio with the seek bar.

Remove Background Noise

Open a recording in the full playback view.
Tap the three-dot menu (top right) and select Remove Noise.
The app processes the audio on-device and creates a clean version.
You can toggle between the original and cleaned audio at any time.
Alternatively, tap the Remove Noise pill button below the playback controls.

Transcribe a Recording

Open a recording in the full playback view.
Tap the three-dot menu (top right) and select Transcribe Audio.
The app uses Apple's Speech framework to generate a text transcript.
Once complete, you can Copy Transcript, Export as PDF, or Export as Text Note from the same menu.
Alternatively, tap the Transcribe pill button below the playback controls.

Managing Recordings

Rename: Tap the three-dot menu > Rename.
Share: Tap the three-dot menu > Share. You can share via AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or any compatible app.
Delete: Tap the three-dot menu > Delete. A confirmation prompt will appear before the recording is permanently deleted.
Multi-Select: In the Library, tap the ellipsis circle icon (top right corner of the "All Recordings" header) > Select Multiple. Check the recordings you want, then Share or Delete in bulk. Tap Cancel to exit selection mode.

Settings

Theme: Switch between Light and Dark mode in Settings > Appearance.
iCloud Sync: Enable to sync recordings across your Apple devices.
Advanced Defaults: Configure Auto Remove Noise and Auto Transcribe to automatically process recordings after saving.

General

What is Recordhz? Recordhz is an audio recorder for iPhone that lets you capture high-quality recordings, remove background noise, and transcribe speech to text — all on your device.

Is Recordhz free? Recordhz is free to download. Free users can create one recording. After that, a Recordhz Pro subscription is required for unlimited recordings and all premium features.

What devices does Recordhz support? Recordhz requires an iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later.

Recording

What audio format does Recordhz use? Recordings are saved in high-quality audio format on your device.

Is there a recording time limit? Free users are limited to one recording of up to 60 seconds. Recordhz Pro subscribers can record without any time limitations.

Can I pause and resume a recording? Yes. Tap the Pause button during recording to pause, then tap Resume to continue. Your recording picks up exactly where you left off.

What happens if I get a phone call during recording? The recording will pause automatically. You can resume it after your call ends.

Noise Removal

How does noise removal work? Recordhz uses on-device audio processing to analyze your recording and reduce background noise such as hum, hiss, and ambient sounds. The original recording is always preserved.

Does noise removal require an internet connection? No. All audio processing happens entirely on your device.

Can I switch between the original and clean version? Yes. In the playback view, you can toggle between the original and the noise-removed version at any time.

Transcription

How does transcription work? Recordhz uses Apple's built-in Speech Recognition framework to convert speech in your recordings to text. Processing happens on-device.

What languages are supported for transcription? Transcription supports all languages available through Apple's Speech Recognition on your device. The language used depends on your device's locale settings.

Can I edit the transcription? The transcription text cannot be edited directly within the app, but you can copy it to your clipboard and edit it in any text editor.

Can I export my transcript? Yes. You can export transcripts as a formatted PDF document or as a plain text note, and share them via AirDrop, email, or any compatible app.

How do I cancel my subscription? Go to your iPhone's Settings > tap your Apple ID > Subscriptions > Recordhz > Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

How do I restore my purchase? Open Recordhz > tap the Pro badge or "Get Mobile PRO" button > scroll down and tap Restore Purchase.

Can I get a refund? Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund.

Privacy & Data

Does Recordhz collect my data? No. Recordhz does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All recordings and transcriptions remain on your device.

Are my recordings uploaded anywhere? No. All recordings are stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud Sync, recordings sync through your personal iCloud account managed by Apple.

Does Recordhz use ads or trackers? No. Recordhz contains no advertisements, analytics trackers, or third-party tracking SDKs.

Troubleshooting

The app says microphone access is denied. Go to your iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > enable Recordhz.

Transcription is not working. Ensure you have granted Speech Recognition permission. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition > enable Recordhz. Also make sure your device has enough storage for processing.

My recordings disappeared. Recordings are stored locally on your device. If you uninstall and reinstall the app, local recordings will be deleted. Enable iCloud Sync in Settings to back up your recordings across devices.

The noise removal is taking too long. Processing time depends on the length of the recording and your device's capabilities. Longer recordings take more time to process. Keep the app open while processing.
