PDF WOLF — Privacy Policy & Help
Last updated: April 2026
PDF WOLF is a password protection app for iPhone and iPad. It lets you import a PDF, add a password to it, and keep the protected copy on your device. Everything happens locally — no accounts, no cloud uploads, no tracking.
Privacy Policy
1. What PDF WOLF Does
PDF WOLF is a single-purpose utility. You import a PDF file, choose or generate a password, and the app creates a password-protected copy of that PDF and saves it on your device. You can then save it to Files or share it from within the app.
The app does not connect to any server to process your PDFs. All encryption is done entirely on your device using Apple's PDFKit framework. Your files never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share or export them yourself.
2. Data We Collect
We collect no personal data.
PDF WOLF does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on any server. There are no accounts, no login, no registration, and no analytics platform used in this app.
The only data stored by the app stays entirely on your device:
- Protected PDF files — saved to the app's local storage in the Application Support directory on your device.
- Passwords — stored securely in your device's Keychain using Apple's Security framework, with
kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlockThisDeviceOnlyprotection. Passwords never leave your device. - Password metadata — a small record (file name, password length, last 4 characters, creation date) is stored locally in app preferences to display in the Passwords tab. This data does not include the full password.
- Protection history — a local log of PDFs you have protected, stored on-device only.
- Purchase status — a cached boolean indicating whether you have an active Pro purchase, stored locally to avoid unnecessary StoreKit lookups.
3. Frameworks and Technologies Used
PDF WOLF uses only Apple's own native frameworks. No third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, advertising networks, or AI services are integrated.
- PDFKit — Apple's native framework for reading and writing PDF documents and applying password encryption on-device.
- StoreKit 2 — Apple's native in-app purchase framework, used to manage the Weekly subscription and Lifetime purchase options. StoreKit communicates directly with Apple's App Store servers to process and verify transactions. We do not see or store your payment information.
- Security framework (Keychain) — Apple's native framework used to securely store your PDF passwords on-device.
- SwiftUI & UIKit — Apple's native UI frameworks used to build the app interface.
This app does not use Apple Intelligence, third-party AI APIs, advertising frameworks, crash reporting SDKs, or any cloud storage service.
4. In-App Purchases
PDF WOLF offers two purchase options through Apple's App Store:
- Weekly subscription — recurring access, billed weekly through your Apple ID.
- Lifetime purchase — a one-time payment, no ongoing charges.
Both plans unlock the ability to save protected PDFs to Files and share them directly from the app. All billing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not process, store, or have access to your payment information. For billing questions or cancellations, manage your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
5. Third-Party Services
The only external service PDF WOLF communicates with is Apple's App Store (through StoreKit 2) to verify and process in-app purchases. This is handled entirely by Apple's systems.
We do not use:
- Google Analytics, Firebase, or any analytics platform
- Advertising networks or ad SDKs
- Crash reporting tools (e.g. Crashlytics, Sentry)
- Social sign-in or authentication services
- Cloud storage or server-side PDF processing
6. App Tracking Transparency
PDF WOLF does not track you. We do not request permission to track you across apps and websites. No IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or similar tracking identifiers are used.
7. Children's Privacy
PDF WOLF does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app has no account system and no data collection of any kind.
8. Your Data, Your Control
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are always in full control:
- Delete protected PDF files from within the app or from the Files app.
- Clear your password vault and protection history from Settings → Clear Stored Data inside the app.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored preferences and history. Keychain entries may persist after uninstall; reinstalling and using "Clear Stored Data" will remove them.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make meaningful changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Because the app does not collect contact information, we cannot notify you directly. We recommend checking this page periodically.

Help & Support
Getting Started
PDF WOLF works in a simple three-step flow:
- Import a PDF — tap the lock icon on the home screen to open the file picker. Choose a PDF from Files, iCloud Drive, or any other location on your device.
- Set a password — tap "Generate Auto Password & Lock" to create a strong random password automatically, or tap "Set Password Manually" to enter your own. If you set a password manually, enter it twice to confirm, then tap "Lock PDF".
- Save or share — once protection is complete, you'll see the result screen. Tap "Save to Files" to export the protected PDF to your Files app, or "Share PDF" to share it via AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or any other app. These actions require a Pro plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does PDF WOLF send my PDF to a server?
A: No. All PDF processing and password encryption happens entirely on your device. Your files are never uploaded anywhere.
Q: Where is my password stored?
A: Your PDF passwords are stored securely in your iPhone or iPad's Keychain — the same secure storage used by iOS for banking apps and saved Wi-Fi passwords. The full password never leaves your device.
Q: I forgot my password. Can you recover it?
A: Open the Passwords tab in PDF WOLF. All passwords saved by the app are listed there. Tap the eye icon to reveal the password for a specific file. We have no access to your passwords — they exist only on your device.
Q: Can I protect a PDF that is already password-protected?
A: No. PDF WOLF can only protect PDFs that are not already encrypted. If you try to import a password-protected PDF, the app will show an error message explaining this.
Q: What does the free version include?
A: Free users can import PDFs, generate or set passwords, and run the full protection process. The result screen shows a preview of the protected file. Saving to Files and sharing the PDF require a Pro plan (Weekly or Lifetime).
Q: What does Pro unlock?
A: Pro unlocks the ability to save the protected PDF directly to your Files app and to share it via the iOS share sheet. The protection process itself is always free to run — Pro gates only the final delivery of the output file.
Q: How do I restore a previous purchase?
A: Go to Settings → Restore Purchases inside the app. This will check your Apple ID for any prior purchase and restore it automatically. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID that was used to purchase.
Q: How do I cancel my weekly subscription?
A: Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad and cancel from there. PDF WOLF does not manage billing — Apple does.
Q: Where are my protected PDFs stored?
A: Protected PDFs are saved in the app's local storage. You can view the history in the Passwords → History tab. Use "Save to Files" to move a copy to a location of your choice in the Files app.
Q: What happens to my data if I delete the app?
A: Deleting the app removes all locally stored data including history and preferences. Keychain entries (passwords) may persist on-device after deletion; to remove them, reinstall the app, open the Settings tab, tap "Clear Stored Data", then delete the app again.
Q: Does the app work without an internet connection?
A: Yes. PDF WOLF is fully functional offline. The only feature that requires connectivity is restoring or verifying in-app purchases, which communicates with Apple's App Store servers.
Q: Is the protected PDF compatible with other apps?
A: Yes. PDF WOLF uses standard PDF password encryption. Protected PDFs can be opened in any PDF viewer that supports password-protected PDFs, including Preview on Mac, Adobe Acrobat, and other standard readers.
