MKV4 Privacy Policy & Help and Support
Effective date: August 12, 2026
Privacy Policy
MKV4 is a video conversion app from 1KB Apps. This Privacy Policy explains how MKV4 handles information when you use the app.
Information We Collect
MKV4 does not require an account and does not directly collect your name, contacts, location, or the contents of your videos.
When you import a video, MKV4 processes it on your device. The app may temporarily copy imported files into its private app storage so conversion can work reliably.
Converted files and conversion history are stored locally on your device. Local conversion history may include file names, file sizes, video duration, selected format, selected quality, conversion time, and conversion date.
MKV4 also stores limited preferences locally, such as onboarding selections, app settings, conversion history, and the status of your MKV4 Pro entitlement.
How We Use Information
Information stored by MKV4 is used to provide app functionality, including:
- Importing and converting video files.
- Displaying conversion progress and results.
- Maintaining your local conversion history.
- Remembering app preferences and onboarding selections.
- Checking available device storage before conversion.
- Restoring and managing MKV4 Pro access.
MKV4 does not upload your video files to 1KB Apps servers for conversion. Your video content is not used for advertising, profiling, or unrelated purposes.
Files, Photos, and Sharing
MKV4 may request access to your Photos library when you choose to import a video from Photos or save a converted video to Photos. These permissions are optional and are controlled by you through Apple’s system settings.
When you choose to import or export using Files, MKV4 uses Apple’s document picker. When you choose to share a converted video, the file is passed to the sharing service or app you select. Those services handle the file according to their own privacy policies.
Third-Party Services and Frameworks
MKV4 uses Apple frameworks including SwiftUI, AVFoundation, PhotosUI, UIKit, StoreKit, Core Media, and Apple’s Files and Photos services. These frameworks support the app interface, video processing, file access, purchases, and photo-library features.
MKV4 uses FFmpegKit to process supported Matroska-family containers such as MKV, MKA, and WebM. FFmpegKit runs as part of the app’s video-processing workflow on your device. It is not used by 1KB Apps to upload your videos to a remote server.
MKV4 may use RevenueCat to support subscription management and entitlement synchronization when RevenueCat is configured for the app. Apple processes App Store purchases through StoreKit. Apple and RevenueCat may process information necessary to validate purchases, subscriptions, and entitlement status, subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.
MKV4 does not use Apple Intelligence, OpenAI APIs, generative AI services, advertising networks, or third-party analytics services for video conversion or app personalization.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
MKV4 does not include advertising or cross-app tracking. The app does not use third-party analytics or tracking services based on its current implementation.
MKV4 does not sell personal information.
Storage and Retention
Imported source files, converted files, and conversion history remain in the app’s local storage until you delete them, clear the history, the app removes temporary files, or you uninstall MKV4.
You can use the app’s Library or History features to remove conversion entries and associated converted files where the relevant option is available.
Purchase and subscription information handled by Apple or RevenueCat may be retained according to their privacy policies, terms, and legal obligations. 1KB Apps does not control Apple’s or RevenueCat’s retention practices.
Your Rights and Choices
- You can choose whether to grant MKV4 access to Photos or Files.
- You can revoke Photos access at any time through your device settings.
- You can delete local conversion history and converted files from within MKV4 where the relevant option is available.
- You can delete the app and its local app data by uninstalling MKV4.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
- You can contact us with privacy questions or requests related to a support inquiry.
Because MKV4 does not maintain a user account or a central database of your video files, most app data is managed directly on your device.
Children’s Privacy
MKV4 is not directed at children under 13, and 1KB Apps does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@1kbapps.com.
Security
MKV4 relies on Apple’s app sandbox and device security features to protect locally stored files. However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app’s features, services, or legal requirements change.
Any updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.

Help and Support
MKV4 converts supported video files to MP4 directly on your iPhone or iPad.
You can import videos from Files, iCloud Drive, or Photos, select a quality, convert the file, and use MKV4 Pro features to save or share the result.
How do I import a video?
Open MKV4 and tap the import area.
Choose Files to select a video from the Files app or iCloud Drive.
Choose Photo Library to select a video from the Photos app.
Which video formats does MKV4 support?
MKV4 is designed to process MKV, MKA, WebM, and other video files supported by the app’s Apple and FFmpegKit processing pipelines.
Some files may not convert if they use an unsupported codec, container structure, or do not contain a valid video track.
What output format does MKV4 create?
MKV4 currently exports converted videos in MP4 format.
Which quality should I choose?
- Original: Preserves the original quality where supported and is generally the fastest option.
- High: Prioritizes video quality.
- Medium: Balances quality and file size.
- Low: Prioritizes a smaller output file.
MKV4 may recommend a quality based on your selected goal and the length of the video. Actual results depend on the source file.
Where is my converted video?
After conversion, you can preview the result in MKV4.
MKV4 Pro allows you to save the converted video to Files or Photos, or share it using Apple’s sharing menu.
Converted files may also appear in the app’s local Library or History section.
Why can I preview a result but not save or share it?
MKV4 provides conversion previews. Saving to Files or Photos and sharing converted videos require MKV4 Pro access through an available subscription.
Why did my conversion fail?
Conversion may fail if the file is corrupted, cannot be accessed, does not contain a valid video track, uses an unsupported codec or container structure, or your device does not have enough free storage.
Try another file, free up storage, or select a different quality.
Does MKV4 upload my videos?
No. MKV4 processes supported video files on your device.
The app does not send video content to 1KB Apps servers for conversion.
Why does MKV4 need Photos permission?
Photos permission is needed only when you choose to import a video from Photos or save a converted video to Photos.
You can continue using Files-based workflows without granting MKV4 access to Photos.
How do I manage or restore MKV4 Pro access?
Subscriptions are processed through Apple.
Open the MKV4 Pro or Settings area to restore purchases where available. You can also manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.
How do I clear conversion history?
Open the Library or History section in MKV4 and use the available delete or clear-history controls.
Deleting a history item may also remove its locally stored converted file.
How can I contact support?
Email us at support@1kbapps.com.
When contacting support, please include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, MKV4 version, the type of file you were converting, and a description of the problem.
Please do not send private or sensitive video files unless support specifically requests them.
