Dcontacts — Privacy Policy & Help
Last Updated: April 17, 2026
Dcontacts ("we," "our," or "the app") is a contact management app for iOS that helps you find duplicate contacts, merge them, identify incomplete entries, and remove empty contacts. Your privacy matters to us. This page explains how we handle your data and how to get support.
Privacy Policy
1. Data Collection
Dcontacts accesses your device's Contacts (via Apple's Contacts framework) solely to scan for duplicates, incomplete entries, and empty contacts. We do not collect, upload, transmit, or store any of your contact data on external servers. All processing happens entirely on your device.
The specific contact fields accessed are:
- First name and last name
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
No other contact fields (photos, addresses, notes, etc.) are accessed or read by the app.
2. How Your Data Is Used
Your contact data is used exclusively to:
- Identify duplicate contacts by matching names, phone numbers, and email addresses
- Detect incomplete contacts missing a name, phone number, or email
- Detect empty contacts with no name, phone, or email
- Merge duplicate contacts into a single entry (combining all phone numbers and emails)
- Delete selected duplicate, incomplete, or empty contacts at your request
We never use your contact data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose other than the core functionality described above.
3. Data Storage
Dcontacts does not store, cache, or persist any copy of your contact data. Contact information is read into memory during a scan session and is discarded when the app is closed. Your contacts remain exclusively in Apple's native Contacts database on your device (and in iCloud if you have iCloud Contacts enabled).
4. Third-Party Services
Dcontacts uses the following third-party services:
- Apple StoreKit / In-App Purchases: Used to process Pro subscription purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or have access to your payment information (credit card, Apple ID, etc.).
We do not integrate any third-party advertising SDKs, social media SDKs, or data brokers.
5. Analytics & Tracking
Dcontacts does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, or tracking frameworks. We do not track your usage, behaviour, location, or device information. There are no ads and no tracking — period.
6. User Rights
You have full control over your data at all times:
- Revoke Access: You can revoke contact access at any time via iOS Settings → Dcontacts → Contacts.
- Data Deletion: Since we store no data externally, there is nothing to delete on our end. Removing the app removes all app-related data from your device.
- Data Portability: Your contacts remain in Apple's native Contacts app and are not modified unless you explicitly choose to merge or delete entries within Dcontacts.
- Right to Know: You may contact us at any time to ask what data we process. The answer is: none is stored or transmitted.
7. Children's Privacy
Dcontacts is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect or transmit any personal data, there is no risk of children's data being stored or shared.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Help & Support

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does Dcontacts find duplicates?
A: Dcontacts scans your contacts on-device and groups them by exact name match, same phone number, or same email address. It then shows you each duplicate group so you can review, merge, or delete entries.
Q: Is my data safe?
A: Absolutely. All scanning and processing happens 100% on your device. Your contact data never leaves your iPhone — it is not uploaded to any server, cloud, or third party.
Q: What does "Merge" do?
A: Merging combines a group of duplicate contacts into a single contact. All phone numbers and email addresses from every duplicate are kept in the merged entry, so you don't lose any information.
Q: What are "Incomplete" contacts?
A: Incomplete contacts are entries that are missing key information — for example, a contact with no phone number, no email address, or no name. Dcontacts groups these so you can review and clean them up.
Q: What are "Empty" contacts?
A: Empty contacts are entries that have no name, no phone number, and no email address at all. These are usually accidental entries. Dcontacts can delete them for you in one tap.
Q: What features are free vs. Pro?
A: Free users can scan their contacts and see all duplicate, incomplete, and empty entries. Pro unlocks the ability to merge duplicates, delete duplicates, and remove empty and incomplete contacts.
Q: How do I upgrade to Pro?
A: Tap the upgrade banner on the home screen or tap any action that shows a "PRO" badge. You can choose a Weekly (\$4.99/week) or Yearly (\$29.99/year) subscription. Payment is processed securely through Apple.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Open the Settings app on your iPhone → tap your name (Apple ID) → Subscriptions → select Dcontacts → Cancel Subscription. Your Pro access will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
Q: How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
A: Open Dcontacts, go to the upgrade screen, and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase.
Q: The app says "Contacts Access Required." What do I do?
A: Dcontacts needs permission to read your contacts. Go to iOS Settings → Dcontacts → toggle on Contacts access. Then return to the app and pull down to refresh.
Q: Will Dcontacts delete contacts without my permission?
A: No. Dcontacts will never delete or modify any contact without your explicit confirmation. Every merge or delete action requires you to review and confirm before anything is changed.
Q: I accidentally deleted a contact. Can I recover it?
A: Dcontacts uses Apple's Contacts framework to delete contacts. If you have iCloud Contacts enabled, you may be able to recover deleted contacts via icloud.com → Account Settings → Restore Contacts. Otherwise, deletions are permanent.
