Convertfxr ("the App") is developed and published by 1KB Apps. This page explains our Privacy Policy and provides help for users of the App.

About the App

Convertfxr is a fast, clean currency converter for iPhone. It supports 160+ world fiat currencies and 15 major cryptocurrencies. The App fetches live mid-market exchange rates, lets you set custom exchange rates for any pair, and provides a built-in numeric keypad for quick amount entry. A Live Rates screen lets you browse and filter all supported currencies by category. The App is built entirely in SwiftUI and uses Apple's native frameworks throughout.

Technologies & Third-Party Services Used

• SwiftUI & StoreKit 2 (Apple frameworks): The App is built natively with SwiftUI and uses Apple's StoreKit 2 for all in-app purchase and subscription management. No third-party purchase SDK is used.
• Frankfurter API (frankfurter.app): An open-source, free exchange-rate API that provides mid-market fiat currency rates. No account or API key is required. The App sends a standard HTTPS request to fetch the latest rates; no personal data is included in this request.
• CoinGecko API (coingecko.com): A public cryptocurrency price API used to fetch live prices for supported cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, SOL, ADA, DOGE, DOT, MATIC, LTC, AVAX, LINK, UNI, XLM, ATOM). The request is anonymous and contains no personal data.
• No Apple Intelligence / AI features: The App does not use Apple Intelligence, on-device machine learning, or any artificial intelligence APIs.
• No analytics SDKs: The App does not integrate Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any third-party analytics framework.
• No advertising SDKs: The App does not display advertisements and does not use any ad network.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Convertfxr is designed to work with minimal data. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, device identifier, or location.

The only data stored on your device is:

• App preferences – your selected appearance mode (light/dark/system), the last-used currency pair, and any custom exchange rates you set. These are stored locally using iOS UserDefaults and the app's document directory. They never leave your device.
• Cached exchange rates – the most recently fetched rates are saved on-device in a local JSON file so the App can function without a network connection. This cache is refreshed automatically.
• Purchase status – whether you have an active Premium subscription is stored locally via UserDefaults and validated through Apple's StoreKit 2 on each launch. We do not store subscription records ourselves.

2. Information Sent to Third-Party APIs

When the App fetches exchange rates, it makes outbound HTTPS requests to the Frankfurter API and CoinGecko API. These requests contain:

• The requested currency codes (e.g., base=USD)
• Standard HTTP headers sent automatically by iOS (e.g., User-Agent)

No personal information, device identifiers, or user data are included. Please refer to the privacy policies of Frankfurter and CoinGecko for details on how they handle server-side request logs.

3. In-App Purchases

All in-app purchases and subscriptions (Weekly, Yearly, and Lifetime plans) are handled entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit 2. We do not receive or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs all transaction data. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

4. Analytics & Tracking

Convertfxr does not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. We do not track your in-app behaviour, session duration, or usage patterns.

Apple may collect aggregated, anonymised App Store and app usage data according to their own privacy policy. We have no access to personally identifiable information from this data.

5. Data Storage & Security

All data the App stores (preferences, cached rates, purchase status) resides locally on your device and is subject to iOS standard device-level encryption. We do not operate servers that store user data.

6. Children's Privacy

Convertfxr is not directed at children under the age of 13. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data for us to delete, correct, or export on your behalf. All locally stored app data (preferences, cached rates) can be cleared by deleting the App from your device.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a currency?

Open the Convert tab. Tap the currency flag/code at the top to select your source currency, and tap the bottom one to select your target currency. Use the keypad to type an amount — the converted result updates instantly. Tap the ↑↓ arrow button to swap the two currencies.

How do I browse all exchange rates?

Tap the Live Rates tab. You can filter by Popular, All, or Crypto. Use the search bar to find a currency by name, code, or country. Tap any rate row to instantly set that pair in the converter.

How often are exchange rates updated?

Rates are fetched from the Frankfurter API (fiat) and CoinGecko API (crypto) and cached locally. The App auto-refreshes rates once per hour for Premium users. Free users can manually refresh a limited number of times per day using the refresh button. Pull down on the converter screen to trigger a manual refresh.

What is a Custom Rate, and how do I set one?

A custom rate lets you override the live market rate with your own value — useful for fixed rates, travel money quotes, or any specific rate you need to use. Tap the Rate button that appears below the currency pair after you enter an amount, then enter your custom rate and save it. A "CUSTOM" badge will appear to indicate the live rate has been overridden. To remove it, open the Rate editor and tap Reset.

Can I use the App without an internet connection?

Yes. The App caches the most recently fetched exchange rates on your device. If you have no internet connection, it will use the cached rates and display the time they were last updated.

What currencies does the App support?

Convertfxr supports 160+ world fiat currencies and 15 major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), BNB, XRP, Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Dogecoin (DOGE), Polkadot (DOT), Polygon (MATIC), Litecoin (LTC), Avalanche (AVAX), Chainlink (LINK), Uniswap (UNI), Stellar (XLM), and Cosmos (ATOM).

How do I change the app theme?

Go to the Settings tab and find the Appearance section. Choose between Light, Dark, or System (follows your iPhone's current system setting).

What is Convertfxr Premium?

Premium unlocks the following features:

• Unlimited manual rate refreshes
• Auto-refresh every hour in the background
• Copy conversion results to clipboard
• Share conversion results via the iOS share sheet

Free users have access to the full converter, live rates browsing, and a limited number of manual refreshes per day. Custom rates are available to all users.

What subscription plans are available?

Convertfxr Premium is available as:

• Weekly – billed weekly, cancel anytime
• Yearly – billed annually, best value
• Lifetime – a one-time purchase, access forever

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open the Premium paywall screen (tap Get Pro) and tap the restore icon (↩) in the top-right corner. Your purchase will be restored if it was made with the same Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions and cancel Convertfxr from there. You will continue to have Premium access until the end of the current billing period.

The rates look outdated. What should I do?

Tap the refresh (↻) button on the Convert or Live Rates screen to fetch the latest rates. If you are on a free plan and have used your daily refresh allowance, upgrading to Premium gives you unlimited refreshes. Make sure you have an active internet connection.

I found a bug or have a feature request. How do I report it?
