Audscribe — Privacy Policy & Help
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 3, 2026
Audscribe turns the speech in your videos and audio files into text. This page explains what happens to your data.
Data collection
Audscribe does not collect your videos, your audio files, your transcripts, or your name or email. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, and no tracking.
When you subscribe or restore a purchase, subscription details are shared with RevenueCat so we can see the status of subscriptions (see Third-party services).
Where your data lives
- Your videos and audio files stay in the location you chose (Photos or Files).
- Transcripts, file names, and settings are stored only on your device.
- Deleting a transcript in the Library, clearing your history, or deleting the app removes this data from your device.
Speech recognition
Audscribe uses Apple's Speech framework to transcribe audio on your device. Your audio is not sent to us or to any third-party service.
On iOS 26 and later, the first time you transcribe in a language, iOS may download Apple's speech model for that language. This is a one-time download from Apple; your audio is not part of it. Apple's handling of system services is described in Apple's own privacy policy.
Permissions
- Speech Recognition: required to turn speech into text. If you decline, transcription cannot run.
- Photos & Files: the app opens the system picker so you can choose a video or audio file. Audscribe only receives the file you pick; it does not browse your library.
- Microphone: not used. Audscribe only transcribes files you choose.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details.
Third-party services
Audscribe uses one third-party service: RevenueCat, for subscription status and purchase records.
- What RevenueCat receives: an anonymous app user ID created on your device, App Store transaction details (product, price, purchase and renewal dates), and basic device information such as app version, iOS version, country, and IP address.
- What it never receives: your videos, your audio files, your transcripts, or your name or email.
- Why: to keep accurate subscription records. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Audscribe uses no advertising, analytics, or tracking services.
Your rights
Your videos, audio files, and transcripts never leave your device, so you control them directly. Delete individual transcripts in the Library, tap Clear All to remove everything, or delete the app to remove all local data.
To ask about or request deletion of subscription records held by RevenueCat, email support@1kbapps.com.
Children's privacy
Audscribe is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Help & Support
Need help? Email support@1kbapps.com and describe what happened. We usually reply within two business days.
What does Audscribe do?
Audscribe reads the speech in a video or audio file and writes it out as text. You choose a video from Photos, or a video or audio file from Files, tap Transcribe, and the transcript appears on screen. No account is needed.
What can I do before subscribing?
You can import a file and read the full transcript. Saving to the Library, copying the text, sharing the text, and exporting a PDF are Pro features.
How do I subscribe?
Tap Get Pro at the top of the Home screen, or View Pro Plans in Settings. Choose Weekly or Yearly, and confirm with your Apple ID. Prices are shown in your local currency before you confirm.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open Settings in the app, tap Restore Purchases, and sign in with the Apple ID you used to subscribe. You can also tap Restore Purchases on the subscription screen.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions, and choose Audscribe. You can change or cancel the plan there. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period stays active until it ends.
Why did transcription fail?
- Make sure the file has audible speech.
- Check that Speech Recognition is allowed in Settings, then open Settings, find Audscribe, and turn it on.
- Some languages are not supported for on-device recognition yet. If yours is not, you will see a message explaining this.
- Very noisy recordings can produce incomplete text. Try a clearer recording.
Which formats are supported?
Video: MP4, MOV, and M4V. Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF, AAC, and CAF. MKV, AVI, OGG, and FLAC files are not supported.
Do I need an internet connection?
Mostly no. Transcription runs on your device. On iOS 26 and later, the first transcription in a language may download Apple's speech model once; after that it works offline. A connection is also needed for the App Store when you subscribe or restore a purchase.
How does the follow-along transcript work?
After transcribing, press play on the results screen (a video player for videos, a compact player for audio). Each word is highlighted in the transcript below as it is spoken, and the current line stays in view. Scroll the transcript to read all of it, and tap any line to jump to that moment.
Where are my transcripts stored?
On your device, in the app's Library. They are not uploaded anywhere.
